Port Orford Whales & Wildlife Boat Tour

Saturday, 4/30 ~ 3-4:30PM
300 Dock Rd., Port Orford, OR – (office is next to restrooms and outdoor showers).

Join us for a great boat tour out of the unique Dolley Dock in Port Orford where we will see all kinds of wildlife, unique south coast geology, and the amazing Redfish Rocks Marine Research Reserve. We will ride on the Black Pearl, a rigid inflatable, and nearly unsinkable vessel like the Coast Guard rescue boats you see all over the Oregon coast.

Most days we spend time with grey whales, harbor seals, sea lions, and a myriad of seabirds both migratory and local. The Redfish Rocks Marine Research Reserve was established in 2010 and has been closed to all harvest of living organisms since 2012. We will tell you the story of how it came to be and what research is currently being conducted in these protected waters. We will also talk about the early pioneer days, the native peoples that were here thousands of years before the white settlers, and our local fisheries which are the lifeblood of the fishing hamlet of Port Orford.  Join us for an adventure that you will not soon forget!
